About the Roaster - Curtis Durocher

I started track & field in 2000, I competed for the Canadian national team in the discus in 2003. In 2005 I moved to Phoenix, AZ to compete for Mesa Community College in track & field I was a 4 time all American and won the national championship in 2007 in the weight throw. In 2008 I competed for Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. While there, I was a 4 time conference champion in the hammer and weight throw. In 2011, I moved to Calgary to try and make the Canadian national bobsleigh team. In 2012, I transitioned to Olympic Weightlifting and in 2014 I transitioned once again to Powerlifting in the IPF, competing in the 2014 Canadian national championships.

In 2014, I finally found Highland games and have been hooked ever since. I have been a professional heavy events Highland games athlete since 2016.

At Mesa community College I graduated with a general studies degree, while there, I was exposed to some of the best athletes and coaches in the world. Routinely competing and training with athletes from the pac 10, the SEC and other major divisional one NCAA schools. During my time at Mesa, I also made two more Canadian national teams and starting to learn about athletic performance.

At Northern Arizona University, my coach was Mohammed Satarra, the current throws coach of CAL Berkley. It was there I was exposed to the soviet system of training, and it was there that I was able to train with the best athletes in the world. I had training camps with Anatoliy Bondarchuk, Koji Murofushi, Dylan Armstrong  and John Godina amongst others. At NAU, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.

My internship was at Athlete performance in Phoenix, AZ, now called Exos. It was there I was able to learn about how to train high performance athletes and professional athletes. It was there I was exposed to many more forms of training that were not strictly weight lifting based.

My current approach to training and the reason why the company is called Fullstrong is because I believe that simply lifting a barbell doesn't make you completely strong. I think that strength has many meanings and there are many different forms of it. I believe in training your weaknesses. My training program is to make you strong whether it would be from body weight, lifting a stone, lifting a barbell. The tool doesn't matter, the goal is to make your body fully strong and to have no weakness.
